Design Day #3 – Color

Original painting, by Roy Lichtenstein

I created this image to show the Bezold Effect, although what it ends up demonstrating is the contrast between a black background vs. white.

By decreasing the saturation, the effect of the black vs. white can be seen more clearly.

I played around with the hues to create a monochromatic piece. Making these adjustments also inverted the image.

I then adjusted the saturation in order to highlight the contrast in the image, but it actually lessened the contrast in the image.

Further lowering the saturation lessened the contrast even more.

This is the original image, created to show the reversed ground effect. Note that the "X" on the left is more pronounced and looks to be a more pure Pink color.

I lowered the color saturation to create a greyscale version of the original. This shows the contrast of the two main colors, Green and Orange, and also emphasizes the reversed ground effect. The "X" on the left panel is much more defined.
